Bakuchiol

β†’ Origin: 🌿 Seeds of the Babchi plant (Psoralea corylifolia)
β†’ Region of origin: India

Description

Bakuchiol is a natural active ingredient derived from the seeds of the babchi plant. It has been used for centuries in traditional Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine and is now considered a gentle, plant-based alternative to retinol. Bakuchiol offers comparable results to retinol: smoother skin, increased elasticity, and a more even complexion – but without the known side effects such as irritation, redness, or photosensitivity.

At Barau by Bibi, we use Bakuchiol specifically in skincare to promote gentle yet effective regeneration – perfectly in line with our philosophy: Effective care with maximum tolerability.

Advantages over synthetic retinol (vitamin A)

🌿 Non-irritating: No peeling, no redness, no photosensitivity
🌿 For all skin types: Very well tolerated, even by sensitive or reactive skin.
🌿 Stable in light & heat: Unlike retinol, bakuchiol does not oxidize as quickly.
🌿 Hormone-free: No interactions with pregnancy or breastfeeding
🌿 Naturally derived: No chemical conversion or synthesis required
