β INCI: Hydrolyzed Collagen / Pseudoalteromonas Ferment Extract
β Origin: π Animal (fish skin) & πΏ Vegan (biotechnologically produced from marine ferments)
β Use: Skin care & hair care
Description
Collagen is a structural protein and a major component of our connective tissue. It gives skin firmness, elasticity, and elasticity. In cosmetics, so-called marine collagen from various sources is used β traditionally from fish skin (animal-based), but today increasingly also as a vegan alternative obtained through biotechnological processes from marine ferments.
At Barau by Bibi, we use both variants deliberately and consciously:
β πΏ Vegan marine collagen in our solid hair cosmetics (coming soon!) β for strong, protected hair.
β π Animal marine collagen in the Mild Cream β for firm, nourished skin with increased elasticity.
Difference: Vegan vs. animal-based marine collagen
πΏ Vegan marine collagen:
β Produced from fermented microorganisms of marine origin (e.g., algal bacteria)
β Suitable for all skin and hair types
β Skin-like peptides, especially moisturizing & protective
π Animal marine collage:
β Obtained from fish skin or fish bones
β Rich in glycine, proline & hydroxyproline β for firm, regenerated skin
β Is particularly well absorbed by the skin
Benefits for skin & hair
πMoisture-retaining: Reduces transepidermal water loss and improves elasticity.
πFirming: Supports skin structure when firmness is declining.
πRegenerating: Promotes cell renewal and skin barrier function.
πProtective: Forms a fine film on skin & hair without weighing it down.
πRepairing: Particularly helpful in hair care against dry and brittle hair ends as well as loss of hair structure.
Effects & Skin Needs
π Mature skin & stressed hair: Collagen restores firmness & resilience.
π Dry & dull skin: Provides moisture and improves the structure.
π Hair protection & volume: Vegan collagen in shampoos provides noticeable strengthening.
Comparison with conventional firming agents
π« Synthetic firming gels work superficially β collagen works deep down.
π« Plastic-based film formers seal the skin β strengthen collagen from within.
π« Lower quality animal collagen is absorbed less efficiently β we rely on highly purified marine types & vegan ferments.

Suitable for
β Mature, dry, tired or structurally damaged skin
β Dull, fine or damaged hair
β Skin in need of care, seeking renewed elasticity
Included in
π Mild Cream
